James W. “Sonny” Colcord
Exeter – James W. “Sonny” Colcord, 86, a lifelong resident of Exeter died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at The Arbors in Bedford.
He was born here March 15, 1927 the son of the late Ezra and Arlene (Whitten) Colcord.
Sonny was a graduate of Exeter High School. He served during WWII and Korean Conflict with the US Navy. He owned and operated Colcord’s Garage for over 50 years, he was a Studebaker dealership.
He was known for his loyal services to many Exeter people who could always count on Sonny being open or available to help whenever need. He will be missed by the Exeter Community for his service to others.
Family members include his children, Peter R. Colcord and his wife, Susan of Manchester, Paul W. Colcord, Penny Metevier and her husband, Lloyd, Pamela Colcord, all of Exeter, his former wife, Margaret “Sis” Colcord of Exeter, his sister, Virginia Jones of CO, his grandsons, Jamie Colcord, Joshua Colcord and Todd Metevier all of Exeter.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Colcord and his sister, Betty McGaughy.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Tuesday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family Monday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Football Program, 1 Crusader Way, Manchester, NH 03101. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
