Leonard Carlson
"Lenny"
Strafford, NH --- Leonard “Lenny" Carlson, 55, drove his final lap on the circle track of life on November 24, 2014 at his home in Strafford.
Born in Kittery February 21, 1959 to Roma Jean (Ells) and Ragnar Carlson, he was a 1977 graduate of Epping High School. After serving in the Navy from 1977-1981 Lenny began his life long profession as an auto technician. Certified as a Master Technician by ASE and Mercedes Benz, Lenny finished his career at Holloway Motor Cars in Manchester.
Known through out the Seacoast for his warm and gentle demeanor, Lenny was old school all the way...never missing a day of work, working on a problem until it was fixed right, treating people with respect and courtesy, and helping out anyone who needed a hand. Family and friends were most important to Lenny and he took great joy and pride in welcoming them into The Lodge, the home he shared with his wife. Whether sharing his pool, playing a game of washers, grilling for a party or a stoking the backyard campfire, Lenny greeted everyone with a hug and “Hi Darlin’” or “Good to see you”. He is also remembered for his passion for racing stock cars in the 80s and 90s at Star and Lee Speedways and for cruising down the back roads on his Harley.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years Martha Chandler Carlson, two sons Lucas Carlson and his wife Melissa of Farmington, NH and Craig Carlson of Berwick, ME, a daughter-in-law Sara Rock of Kittery, ME, and three grandchildren: Pierce Rock Carlson of Kittery, ME, Emma Carlson of Swanville, ME and Eliza Carlson of Palermo, ME. He is also survived by his step mother Melba Carlson of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, his step sister Kathy Linton of Prince Edward Island, his sisters Susan Pickering of Portsmouth, NH, Carol Gannett of Nyack, NY, Cathy Kurpil of Stuart, FL, Anna Marie Duch of Wilmington, NC and his brother Randall Gray of Aurora, CO and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the incredible compassion and care received from Mary Campbell and the staff of the Exeter Hospital Center for Cancer Care, and from the entire Hospice team of Rockingham VNA & Hospice.
