Leo John Busch
Exeter - Leo John Busch, Sr, 90 died peacefully after a long illness, on Sunday March 10th, 2013 at the Exeter hospital.
He was born in Cumberland, WI on September 1, 1922, the youngest of four children of Charles W. and Clara (Grotz) Busch.
The family moved to New England, settling in Kensington, NH for a brief time and later moving to Merrimack, MA where Leo went through school and graduated from Merrimack high school with the class of 1940.
He joined the U.S Navy in 1942 and served aboard the U.S.S South Dakota until his discharge in December 1945. In November 1946 he married Larraine Parr of Hampton, NH. He was pre-deceased by his sister Mary and his brothers George and Karl, all formally of Newton, NH.
He is survived by his wife, Larraine, and his three children and their spouses: Leo “Jack” Busch, Jr. and Victoria – of Torrington, CT, Denise Busch Powell and Paul – of North Hampton, NH, Phillip James Busch and Brenda – of Deerfield, NH. Also by six grandchildren: Nicole Powell, Luke Powell, Brooke Powell, Stephanie Powell – of North Hampton, NH, Hilary Busch Sterling – of Torrington, CT, Haley Busch – of Manchester, CT. And by three great grandchildren:
Thomas, Leah and Jillian Sterling. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Leo was a heavy equipment operator and is a retired of the member of the international union of operating engineers local for Boston, MA. He is also a member of the America Legion.
A visiting hour will be at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Rd, Exeter, NH at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. – Front St., Exeter. Burial will be in the spring at Brookside Cemetery in Hampton Falls, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple-sclerosis Association or a charity of your choice.
