Mildred Ruth Bruen


Mildred Ruth Bruen born Dec. 8, 1924 in Medford daughter of the late Robert Feener and Vivian (Barringer) Feener, MA died peacefully at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 after a long period of declining health. 

She is survived by her daughter Jackie Rockel, her son-in-law Spencer Davis, and her two grandchildren Evan and Adrienne Davis of Exeter.  She is also survived by her sister Emily Feener of Malden and many nieces and nephews.  

Her good friends Marie and Betty of Haverhill and Dan and Dick of Lynn generously gave of their time to be her friend and support during her final years.

Ruth graduated from Malden High School in 1942 and went to Washington DC to work for Navy Intelligence during the war.   Her careers included homemaking, and accounting for a variety of firms included VanCo, Potter Press, Hale Hospital, and her condo association at Farrwood Green in Haverhill.  She volunteered during tax season for the AARP and for the Joyful Ladle, both in Haverhill.  She enjoyed her garden, magazines, knitting, sewing, and more than anything else in this world, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert D. Bruen, her brothers and their wives, Robert and Norma Feener and Gordon and Barbara Feener.

Burial will be private at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at a later date.  An open house and celebration of her life will be held on June 13th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at 31 Park Street in Exeter for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joyful Ladle at 26 White Street, Haverhill, MA 01830 or to a charity of one’s choice.
