Newmarket, NH – Barbara L. Brown, 95, of Newmarket, formerly a long time resident of Stratham died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Pines of Newmarket.

She was born October 13, 1917 in Brockton, MA daughter of the late Forrest and Hilda (Townsend) Allen.

Mrs. Brown was raised in Brockton and later Jaffrey, NH. She worked as a dental assistant and a telephone operator during WW II. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and knitting, but most of all loved being around her family.

She was a long time member of the Stratham Community Church.

She shared 53 years of marriage with her late husband George R. Brown who she married August 12, 1945 at Central Methodist Church, Brockton.

She is survived by her son Paul Brown of West Stockbridge, MA; daughter Linda Medlin and her husband Lonnie of Rantoul, IL; grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Matthew Brown, Scott Medlin, Jason Medlin and his wife Tara, Andrew Medlin; great grandchildren Amber, Gabriel and Tyler.

Visiting hours will be from 1 - 2 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Services will immediately follow at 2 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
