Master Chief
Petty Officer USN Ret.,
Robert Daniel Patrick Broadbent

Master Chief Petty Officer Robert Broadbent, 83, passed away peacefully at home on January 29th, with his wife and family by his side.  Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Predeceased by parents, Joseph and Florence Broadbent and 8 siblings.

At 17, Bob joined the U.S. Navy and traveled the world.  Bob served in active military in the Korean and Vietnam wars and was the Supply Chief aboard the USS Intrepid.  His final post was at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he retired after 23 years of service.  He then had a 20 year career with The Social Security Administration where he was a manager in both the Portsmouth, NH and Bangor, Maine offices.

While stationed in England in the Navy, Bob met Lynda, the love of his life, and never looked back.  That love endured for 57 years, and Bob said his only regret in dying, was in leaving Lynda alone.

A devoted lifelong Red Sox fan, he realized his dream with the world series win in 2004.  Bob was also a huge Patriots fan and his family is so sorry he won't see his Patriots in the Superbowl this weekend.  He did however, have time to voice his disgust at "deflategate" before he passed.

Bob was a devoted member of St. Michael's Church and a fanatic golfer at the Exeter Country Club.  Winning the "Over Age 70 Club Championship" this past summer.   He was a good friend to all of his neighbors in Crestview, both Stratham and Exeter.

Bob is loved by all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His sense of humor, kindness and love for family will always be remembered.

Bob is survived by Lynda, his loving wife of 57 years, his six children, Michael Broadbent of Yarmouth, Maine, Joanne Lorello and husband Tom of Ipswich, MA, Timothy Broadbent of Newburyport, MA, Laurie Walmsley and husband Shawn of Stratham, NH, Mary Sullivan of Exeter, NH and Beth Clancy and husband Michael of Dover, NH.  10 grandchildren, Meagan Graffum, Stephanie Labrecque, Michelle Broadbent, Sean Clancy, Patrick Clancy, Sarah Walmsley, Robert Walmsley, Joshua Walmsley, Julia Lorello & Grace Sullivan.  4 great grandsons, Shane, Hunter, Jackson & Greyson.  Bob  is also survived by his half-sister, Sandra Broadbent of Deming, New Mexico.  Bob had many nieces and nephews throughout the US and UK.
