Jacqueline Scott Bartlett


Jacqueline Scott Bartlett, 93, of Exeter NH died peacefully on Monday April 15th, 2013. Born in Philadelphia PA on November 10th 1919 to John B. and Edna (Kimble) Scott, she graduated from George Washington University with a degree in education in 1941 and worked as a secretary to the Army, first in Washington DC and then in Nanjing China, where she met and married her husband, Col. George Gordon Bartlett Jr. in 1948.  In the 1960's she and George were in residence at Middlesex School in Concord, MA, where he taught French.  A long-term resident of New Seabury in Mashpee MA, and Chevy Chase, MD, Jackie moved to Exeter in 2005.

With a cheerful and adventurous spirit, she was a teacher, ran a bookstore, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crosswords, gardening, French cooking, and a good glass of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

Jackie is survived by  her son David Scott Bartlett, his wife Karen, grandson Robert, sister-in-law Marina Scott, cousins Helen Madden and Kathryn Scott, nephews Bill Bartlett, John Scott, Paul Scott, and niece Bunny Sanderson. She was predeceased by her husband and brother John Scott. A private interment will be held later this spring.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The RiverWoods Fund, RiverWoods at Exeter, 7 RiverWoods Dr., Exeter, NH 03833. Arrangements were by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
