Paul R. Ayotte
Brentwood – Paul R. Ayotte, 80, of Exeter, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood.
He was born May 4, 1934 in Woonsocket, RI, the son of the late Joseph D. and Loretta (Ducharme) Ayotte. He was a graduate of Traip Academy (Kittery, Maine) and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, where he worked as a radio technician. He was stationed in France for most of his period of service. He worked at many jobs related to repair of electrical equipment before ultimately serving as a electrician for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until 1993.
Paul was fascinated by anything mechanical or electrical, frequently taking broken things apart in order to render them operational again. He was undaunted by the level of failure of any device. He also was an amateur jeweler, who made and sold hundreds of items within the community. He was fond of gardening and nurtured flowers, plants, and bushes in his yard. In his retirement, he worked part time at Aubuchon Hardware in Exeter where he enjoyed helping people from the community.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Gloria (Bellucci) Ayotte, of Exeter, NH; a son, Joseph D. Ayotte and wife Laura Hayes, of Concord, NH; and two grandsons, Blaine and Dean. He also is survived by a brother Richard Ayotte and wife Peggy, of Augusta, Maine; a sister, Joan Letourneau and husband Tim, of Old Town, Maine; a sister-in-law, Jane M. Ayotte of Rye, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Normand and by twin brother Eugene.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Thursday at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul food pantry in Exeter, New Hampshire. Burial will be in the spring.
