Raymond S. Alves








Epping, NH – Raymond S. Alves, 79, of Epping died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Center of Exeter Nursing Home with his wife by his side.

He was born April 16, 1934 in Provincetown, MA the son of the late Joseph and Irene Alves.

He was lived most of his life in Provincetown, MA and was a graduate of Provincetown High School. He owned and operated the Galeforce Ranch Colony Motel which he helped his father build for many years.

He served in the US Army for 4 years and the US Airforce for 16 years, serving during the Vietnam war.

He moved to New Hampshire in 1986, first in Exeter, Raymond and settling in Epping. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Epping a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2179 of Exeter. He and his wife enjoyed camping and travelled across the country in their motorhome.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Family members include his wife 38 years, Carol ( Gallant) Alves, their children, Steven Alves, David Alves, Irene Doherty, Judy Carmody, Danielle Arel, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sisters, Martha Roderick and Veronica Alves, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Alves, Jr and his daughter, Nicole Alves, and his brothers, Kenneth Alves and Robert Alves.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Monday from 4-7 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping, Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial will be in the St. Peter Cemetery, Provincetown, MA. If desired donations may be made to The Wounded Warriors Fund.
