JoAnn Allison
Brentwood, NH - JoAnn Allison, 68 died peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 11, 2010, with her husband, Malcolm, of 46 years by her side.
Born July 17, 1942 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Josephine (Weingart) Fett, Sr.
JoAnn was a graduate of Saint Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing, Chicago, IL. She obtained her BS and MS in Nursing from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL.
JoAnn spent her entire career in the health care field. She worked for Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, IL, as a charge nurse for the Intensive Care and Surgical units. Later, she followed her passion for knowledge and sharing what she knew by becoming an instructor at the RMH School of Nursing and as an Adjunct Professor at Rockford College. When the family moved to the Seacoast of New Hampshire in 1985, she continued teaching as a Professor of Nursing at the New Hampshire Community Technical College and the University of New Hampshire. JoAnn later worked as the Director of Quality Assurance at the VNA of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire and at the New Hampshire Board of Nursing as the Assistant Director. She continued working into retirement as a nurse for Core Physicians in Exeter, NH and for Interim Health Care. Throughout her nursing career, she centered her efforts on patient care and advocacy, enhancing nursing educational programs, accreditation standards and medical quality management systems. Upon retirement, she served as the Supervisor of the Checklist for the Town of Brentwood, NH.
In addition to her life long partner and husband Malcolm, surviving family members include a son, Phillip Allison and wife Carrie, a daughter Pam Raynowska and husband Micah, grandchildren Claire and Lance Allison and Emily, Lia and Ethan Raynowska all of Brentwood, NH and her brother Earl Fett and wife Pat of Rockford, IL.
In keeping with JoAnn’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services instead a gathering of close friends and family will be held at a later date.
The Allison family thanks their friends and staffs of Dr. Karl Singer at Core Physicians, the Exeter Hospital Oncology Unit, the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Clinic and the Rockingham VNA & Hospice for their care and support over the last three years.
