Retired Raymond Firefighter
Raymond – Richard C. “Papa” Abelli, 60, of Raymond was called home on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 20, 1947 in Framingham, MA a son of Ugo R. Abelli of Natick,MA and Marjorie E. Humphrey of Waterville, ME.
Mr. Abelli was raised in Framingham, MA and was a graduate of Framingham High School class of 1965. After graduation, he chose to enlist in the United States Air Force where he attained the rank of Sergeant serving in the Vietnam War. He had resided in Raymond for the past 25 years.
He was a master plumber for the Harry W. Wells, Inc company in Nashua for several years. He has over 20 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Raymond. He was very active in the Raymond Fire Department since 1995 and previously he was a member of the Brentwood Fire Department.
He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and he cherished his faithful dog, Brandy.
In addition to his parents, family members include his loving wife of 32 years, Louise F. (Goneau) Abelli of Raymond, two sons, Richard R. Abelli and his wife, Tanya of Pembroke, NH, Michael W. Abelli and his fiancé, Heather Shaw of Manchester, NH, a daughter, Jennifer Abelli of Manchester, three granddaughters, four sisters, Lois Reimer of St. Petersburg, FL, Laurie Bridges and her husband, Rob of Timberlake, NC, Donna Abelli of Easton, MA and Carolyn Robbins and her husband, Glenn of Candia, NH, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 9, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Route 27, Epping, NH. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833 or the Raymond Fire Department Explorer Program, 1 Scribner Road, Raymond, NH 03077. Following the funeral mass a reception will be held at the Raymond Fire Department.
