Paul E. Abbott
Exeter - Paul E. Abbott died peacefully September 19th, 2012, in Exeter Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born September 11th, 1927 in North Kennebunk Port, Maine. The son of William F. and Leona Wormwood Abbott. He was a graduate of Wells High school and was an Army Veteran.
He lived most of his life in Exeter NH and was an avid golfer. He served as president of Exeter Country Club, was a past member of the Exeter Lions Club and Newmarket Legion. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Dereher-Holloway of Exeter.
He enjoyed stockcar racing, having built his #11 and raced at the Pines and Hudson Speedways. Upon retirement, his computer became one of his best friends.
Family members included Ann (Welch) Abbott, daughter Judy and husband John LaChapelle of The Villages, FL, and Patti Corbin of Exeter. Grandchildren Paul LaChapelle and Jennifer Small of Exeter, Kelli LaChapelle of Ocala FL, and Rachel (Corbin) Yerakes of Somersworth.
Great grandchildren Kyra LaChapelle, Madison and Isabella Small, Chase LaChapelle, Trevor Paul Yerakes, and Mya Gouviea. His sister and brother in law Jean and Robert Kneeland of Bradford MA, Barry D. Welch, brother in law, of Kennebunk ME, and 3 nieces, Roxanne, Bobbi, and Robby-Anne.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family at the Stockbridge Funeral Home on Epping Road, Exeter on Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm followed by a memorial service at 3pm. Please omit flowers. If desired, donations in Paul’s memory, may be made to the Children’s Christmas fund c/o The Town Of Exeter, 10 Front St. Exeter NH 03833.
